In Honoring our Fallen Heroes and Supporting Veterans & Gold Star Family Members

The 15th Annual Patriot Week Gala at Encore Boston Harbor Hotel is the signature fundraising event of Patriot Week. This premier evening brings together Gold Star Families, Veterans, corporate and civic leaders, and distinguished guests to honor the legacy of our Fallen Heroes.

The cornerstone event of the week, the gala raises critical awareness and support for the life-changing programs and services provided by Massachusetts Fallen Heroes and InnoVets. It also serves as a powerful tribute to Gold Star Families and Massachusetts service members lost since September 11, 2001.

TYLER VARGAS-ANDREWS // UNITED STATES MARINES

Tyler Vargas-Andrews is a former United States Marine Corps Sergeant and combat Veteran who served in multiple deployments, including in the Middle East. He gained national recognition as one of the wounded survivors of the August 26, 2021, suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, during the U.S. withdrawal. Vargas-Andrews sustained severe injuries in the attack, which claimed the lives of 13 US Service Members and over 170 Afghan civilians.

Following his recovery, he became an outspoken advocate for accountability regarding the withdrawal, sharing his experiences and testimony before Congress. He has since dedicated himself to supporting fellow Veterans, raising awareness about their challenges, and improving policies related to military operations and Veteran care.

Following Eric’s passing, Allie became deeply involved with Massachusetts Fallen Heroes (MFH), an organization that Eric co-founded to honor and support service members who made the ultimate sacrifice during the War on Terror. In April 2019, less than five months after Eric’s passing, she ran the Boston Marathon in his honor, raising funds to support MFH’s mission. The following month, she returned to the Annual Patriot Week Gala to share Eric’s story and reflect on the journey she and her children have navigated since his death in Afghanistan. She described the experience as deeply emotional, as it brought her back to the city where they had built their life together.

We are honored to welcome Allie back to address our Gala attendees, where she will share a powerful message of courage and perseverance.
